We, as bloggers, all participate in social media – it is kinda what we are. So you think you are a social media maven – you are on Facebook, you blog, you tweet, you tribe, you have klout a google page rank. But is that enough? Sometimes yes and sometimes no. How do you validate your blog to sponsors? Sometimes we work directly with companies, sometimes with PR firms. We pitch them with “buzz”. They all love social media buzz and here are some tools you can use to help show your review or giveaway helped actually create buzz!. Now – a word of caution. Social media does not happen overnight. It takes time for search engines to pick up your posts, time for people to search and find them, and time for people to share the buzz. But, here are a few tools to help you along the way!
Simple but easy way to track what people are saying about your blog or company. Also useful for other things…use your imagination – straight to your inbox.
Twitter Search – and Advanced Search
Twitter search is good to search for basics, and twitter advanced search is great to search for phrases, people, hashtags, you name it! You can use this for RT searches, or to find companies and leads.
Hash tracking has free and paid services where you can see mentions – that is if people used a hash tag. This is helpful for events, giveaway or tweets where you have used #xyz
Social media tracking with both free and paid services
Shows mentions in forums – sometimes more helpful for companies – but I have found some interesting things.
Similar to Google Alerts but a bit different – create alerts for your blog, a company or your giveaways and events and see what people are saying.
Wait a minute – isn’t this a giveaway tool? Ah yes, but it is so much more. This is a fast and easy way to send a sponsor how many twitter followers, Facebook likes or newsletter sign ups your giveaway provided.
This is useful for tracking blog comments – about a campaign, a post or your blog.
So step it up a notch! Leave a comment with your favorite tools~
