Ancient Stones makeup has a different twist on mineral makeup, I was quite pleased when I received my samples. Their point of difference seems to be an all day fresh look with no smudging and products that illuminate your skin. So here is my experience with the products.
I tested their eyeshadow, powder foundation, super soft focus and setting spray. I LOVE the sparkle in the eye shadow – it glimmers, but is very subtle once applied. They asked for my picture prior to sending my samples….and they did a great job of “picking” eyeshadow colors for my sample – they were a perfect fit for my eyes and skin tone. I will say – be careful opening the little jars. I spilled mine a bit because I was not paying attention…..oops.
The super soft focus is a white powder that you put on before anything else that acts as a natural sun shield…pretty cool. I could not tell it was on except for some shimmer from the powder.
I do think that I personally liked the foundation/bronzer better for summer time…when you go pretty makeup free but want a little polish. This would be perfect for my needs. I am not a “put on makeup” every day girl…..so that it what fits my lifestyle. However, one of the claims of Ancient Stones is that it enhances skin tone and glow. It for sure does that. It looked very natural…I felt sunkissed.
They also have a unique item that I had never heard of before. It is a spritzer that you apply after you apply the makeup to set it. I have heard of and tried beauty items where you put a cream or stick before applying makeup to stop creasing, etc…but this was a refreshing no mess alternative. Just spray and go. It claims to set your makes up for the day without smudges – through exercise, swimming etc. I did not test it to the extremes of something like swimming but it did wear well and I did not have to reapply. I would be curious how it would do in the hot Texas summer running around with the kids at the pool. But you will have to wait a few months for that test I also tested the fixative spritzer with my other makeup too. I did find out I needed to put a good moisturizer on prior to this for my skin type otherwise it felt a bit tight. Overall, I was impressed. Pretty cool.
For those with sensitive skin, you will like to know that this is a pretty natural product with no fillers, perfume, etc. I read once that your skin absorbs everything you put on it….makeup, nailpolish, etc. So it made me feel good that I was not absorbing anything weird
